Lightbulb PHOTOS: Nights in Ventnor, Go Green!

The "Margate blogger" featured the eco-friendly event in Ventnor in today's blog, with this photo of Silver Medalist Jean Antolini's entry. That "slow boat to China" featured an Olympics theme, a bird's nest, and a calculation of the miles.

Ventnor's own "Dragon Boat" -- powered by the Gilda's Gladiators -- led the parade of over 100 watercraft. The Gladiators knew right where to position themselves before the judging panel, at the boat's home port, a residence known as Historic Derby Hall.

The panel of unbiased judges wore green shirts and flashed numerical score cards, not unlike Olympic gymnastics judges of the not-too-distant past.

More photos of the regatta on parade. Jimmy Buffet was entertaining locally, and this entry appeared to be from Margaritaville.

Quacks? Over by the Water Works building, did you hear quacks?

Ventnor's own "statesman" to the county freeholder board, Joe McDevitt, was patriotically attired. Unlike General George Washington crossing the Delaware, he also knew better than to stand up in his boat - a vintage VCBP lifeboat.

Somebody might have paid a visit to this place for head gear.

The water craft kept coming ...

Some got an "easier ride" than others.

Sharks appeared to be in hot pursuit of these kayakers and their pooch.

A "hair tint" of green put the dog's fur into the spirit of the event!
