Due to weather forecasts, calling for likely rain and possible thunderstorms on Saturday, the post about WeLoveVentnor's Meet at the Beach gathering has been updated with contingency plans.
http://www.ventnorevoice.com/bulleti...read.php?t=184 UPDATE: Tent is up -- juice & soda are on ice -- hotdogs are hot -- and it's all at the beach! Look for us behind the VCBP stand at the Dorset Ave. beach. Last edited by VENTNOR eVOICE ADMIN : 07-05-2008 at 11:20 AM. |

... everything is set up, at the Dorset Ave. beach, for the first of what should be many annual SOCIAL gatherings of WeLoveVentnor and centered on July 4th holiday weekends.

Special thanks to Mike, who works the Ventnor beach grooming crew every summer (for the past 20 years!) and his assistance with garbage can placement of the large blue and gold public receptacles, and attention to sand grooming.
10 AM - Tent and banner up. Where's the food? ![]() 11 AM -- Tent has grills ready and coolers filled. Almost ready for starting to grill hotdogs at Noon. ![]() Noon to mid-afternoon -- A nice even flow of families arrived to visit, pick up edibles and settle into lounge chairs closer to the beach, despite the hazy clouds and an occasional raindrop. ![]() Commissioner Weintrob and members of his family stopped by, on their way to visiting the volleyball tournament and the pier's second day of being opened for free public access. ![]() He reported that the flow of visitors on July 4th had been substantial. Many reported themselves to be long-time residents or seasonal visitors who were taking advantage of the chance to stroll out to the end of the pier for the very first time. The piermaster, reportedly, logged a record-setting number of inquiries on July 4th, from people wishing to sign up for paying memberships. The large rollabout garbage can brought by WLV to our location to handle trash needs was "donated" on Saturday afternoon to the Ventnor fishing pier. Kudos to the piermaster and work crews for keeping after the fish cleaning tables and keeping the facility looking brand new, through several busy days.
