More information from Carla about the "digital flyer" above:

This is scheduled for Saturday, June 14 at 10AM and takes place simultaneously at City Hall, The Library and Somerset Tennis Courts.

Flowers will be supplied by City Hall and planted by volunteers in the community including the local scout troop.

This is a function of the Beautification Board and I am hoping it will make Atlantic Ave. really shine!!

An article will appear in the Current tomorrow.

Commissioner Weintrob was the driving force behind this idea.

Default Now We're Talking

Who was the last private citizen to plant flowers at city hall? Me thats who was right after landscaping was put in. I planted vinca because they're drought resistant. Somebody should check sprinkler system to see if working right and that it will hit all new plantings. Right now the beds are a mess. Somebody needs to grab spade and recut the beds, then weed the and try to get rid of that crap- red mulch and replace with licorice root. LICORICE ROOT IS THE STUFF. Buy it by the yard and its cheaper. We know anybody with a dump truck?

as for the library...we got enough stuff there to landscape the rest of the city. They planted 6 bradford pears last year and I thought that was stupid. You spent big money on building so why try to hide it with trees. Those tress will eventually grow into each other. they should be transpalnted in late fall when all leaves are gone. Where to...Ventnor Ave. especially around old gas station.
That first bradford pear they planted at grand opening is sick.

and the tennis courts..they have water?
If not we need to look into what Margate has..a truck with a giant water bottle and gas operated pump. They even mix miracle grow in. and you can see guy watering all Summer.
You can plant all ya want but if nobody waters it

we should not stop at these locations...I think we should reforest behind pathmark too. Hide that from our bayfront homes and entice more wildlife to move in.

ps...to who ever cut the grass at city hall...YOUR BLADES ARE DULL, grass was torn, not cut, that is why it looks dry right now, all tops are shreded. Just look at your neighbors lawn, nice, green and cut with sharp blade.

I'm not even going to get into that cut job they did back by the shalom home

Ok ,I'm done for now, sorry for the rant but i still rmember crawling on my belly to pick a weed that you can hardly see(I cut grass for living one time). Customer wanted the best and she got it ..we should settle for nothing less.
