About a dozen volunteers carried signs and distributed information flyers between 12 Noon and 2PM on Saturday, May 10th.

Matt Steinen of VERG, spokesman for the group, stated that efforts would continue in the coming weeks to build awareness about the dredge spoils facility proposed for 12 acres of Ventnor West. DEP has advised that there will be a public hearing in Ventnor about the controversial plans due to its receipt of petitions and expressions of concern from Ventnor residents. No hearing date has yet been announced, but it was estimated for middle of June by DEP official David Risilia.

The group carried signs which read as follows:

Volunteers anchored the corners of both sides of the street, at both ends of the block, to hand out flyers to motorists stopped at lights. A group holding signs waved them at motorists who honked and gave thumbs up signs through open windows. Flyers were taken, also, by people going in and out of City Hall. VERG advised that the effort to get information distributed to residents will continue until the time of the DEP hearing.
